iPhone Proximity Sensor Testing

Hello All, my question is based around the “Voice Memos” application I normally used to test the proximity sensor on iPhones. Normally, I would record something for at least 10 seconds, play it back with the loud speaker off (so I would hear it like it was a normal call), then by simply covering the proximity sensor the LCD would go dim. Then when removing my finger from covering the sensor the LCD would light up again. Recently I noticed when going into the Voice Memos that the speaker option was not there, just an edit link.

Actual Question: How can I test the proximity sensor on the iPhone now a days in 2019, without making a call?

Personally, I don’t think there is anything wrong with making a quick call to test the proximity sensor. Not only can you test the proximity sensor, you can also check the earpiece and loudspeaker at the same time. You also get the added benefit of testing the cellular antennas. We just communicate with our customers what we are doing.

That only works if the customer left their SIM card within the device.

We are testing in bulk, so to make a call is not very efficient for what we are trying to accomplish. But thanks for the feedback!

If you record a voice memo and cover it up (whilst still recording) it still works with new ios.

...and it plays back on both the loudspeaker and ear speaker in "stereo". I use it to test all three functions.

Thanks for the feedback! Haven't tried this method, but will keep it in mind.
