Why is my ipad shutting off during restore from itunes?

hello, i just received an ipad 4th gen. i charge it for hours, take off charger (its in dfu mode), i plug into itunes click restore and update. it will extract the software, but when it begins to restore, it hangs on the apple logo and the loading circle on the ipad freezes. my computer will then wait on the ipad for 10 min or so and then say ipad not responding. i will turn the ipad off and try to turn back on and it acts as if its dead. i have to hook up to charger for 15 min before it will turn on. any ideas

In Dfu mode many ipad components and functions are idle, but when the restore starts they are activated as a higher level of system calls is involved to proceed. There’s probably a hardware issue that needs to be taken care of before the restore can take place, not much you can do besides trying an alternative charging cable just to be on the safe side and if the issue is still there you’ll need someone specialized in microsoldering and board level repairs.

Usually on the iPad 2-4 I get these due to software issues with the computer or the charging cable being bad.

OP try another charging cable if you can hear the connect / disconnect sound if you are using a windows computer.

Also try using 3UTools to re-install the drijvers for you.
