1 Siri can't hear me unless I yell?
help! I’ve tested my microphones ( calls, facetime, voice memos) all seems good but Siri cannot hear me unless I yell. I’ve updated everything, wiped it multiple time and still the same issue. It’s a 256gb jet black iphone 7. Can you diagnose and repair this?

Thanks for the email. Sadly, I’ve tried this a few times, when I’m setting up SIRI I have to scream to get her to hear me? That’s the only way it will finish the setup. I’ve wiped the phone 3 times and redone the settings multiple times. I tested the various mics. Front video works with audio, rear video works, transcribing works, phone calls and facetime all work. But Siri can just barely hear me?

You may have an issue with the front facing microphone. Siri and a couple other features use a secondary microphone next to the camera, instead of the one near the bottom.

yes, I was guessing that might be it, however, when I do a front facing video, it really seems to sound fine? would there be another way to test that mic?

Hello, did you ever find a solution to this? I'm experiencing the exact same thing. The mic works in all other venues, except for Siri. I have to yell with the phone within 1 foot from my face for Siri to hear me. I've reset the phone, reset siri mutliple times, etc. Same results as you. I'm hopeful that you had solved this as you're the only other one I can find who has explained this same experience.

I have been silently following this conversation since 2018 because I had this problem as well. During these years I have upgraded my iPhone 6S to a SE 2020, and the issue was partially resolved. Now Siri can hear me more often, but I still have to put my face in front of the phone otherwise it won’t hear me. Also, in the last 2/3 years, iOS has become a MESS. I have been an iPhone user since iOS 5, and I can really tell you, the only times apple screwed up really bad were with iOS 11, 17, 18. I am really considering switching to android because apple is seriously disappointing me.
