I have an iPhone 5S that is stuck in recovery mode. I am only able to power it on by plugging in the charger, as the power button doesn’t seem to work. When I try to restore it with iTunes, it says that it is “Waiting for iPhone,” while the iPhone goes to a black screen and does nothing.
Is there anything I can do about this? (Preferably without disassembling it since I don’t have the tools)

Does the screen go off immediately when you unplug the charging cable?
If yes the issue is caused by either a bad battery or the battery not being connected properly.
If you do end up replacing the battery and it’s stuck in recovery mode use 3UTools to get the phone to exit out of recovery mode on a windows computer.
