This seems to be a product defect still present in two of the models I’ve tried upon purchase. For me, it requires sitting down, pulling the part with the button on the top of the hose all the way up, ensuring the button is facing forward and then slowly sliding the top down. If I try to do it standing, I can’t make it work.

this is crazy my parents got one in like 2008 and it was super simple to use every piece and part albeit the indented power button, this new one is confusing and makes no sense, why change stuff that worked

The hard grey hose inside the flexible one is not aligned up right so it will fit in the slot at the bottom where the flexible hose clicks in by the red tab. Remove the whole piece by pushing the red tab and then move the wand around untill it fits through the bottom then place it back on the machine. If this is not aligned right the hard wand hose pipe will not go down enough and so the wand will not go all the way down and snap.into.place.
