White Screen "?MENU" With r4 Card

I’ve been trying to get my r4 card to work for days now, and I’m getting a bit at a whits end. All it shows when I open up the r4 game is a white screen with a red SD card with “menu” written in it.

It’s a completely new r4 SDHC 2018 GOLD PRO. It’s a completely new SD micro card. I’ve tried changing the format, getting _DS_MENU.DAT files, getting patched ROMS and all that, and absolutely nothing has worked.

Is it because it’s a DSi? It was supposed to be supported by the r4, but the more I look around the more I can see many saying solutions will only work with DS lite.

Is there anything I can do???

I Have the same problem i was about to try a naruto game that i tought was interesting and then boom it turned into white screen with menu? somethin my r4 card is a 3DS upgrade SDHC Dual core card and yes i know iam 4 years late

Which R4 are you using? is the micro sd the right sized capacity, Because that might be the problem, like a 64 gb micro sd wouldnt work, i use 8gb micro sd with a r4 HDSC 2021

Thats an error that shows when you have not installed the correct kernel, for the r4 gold pro, the root of your micro sd card, should look like below,

R4iMenu

R4i.dat

I have those exact files and folders in my SD card but It still doesnt work. I keep getting the ?MENU error picture...

This worked perfectly. I had to remove them from the folder they were currently in by cut&paste. If it still doesn't work for others then it may be that it's not formatted in fat32 and is larger than 2BG.

That did get me further this time thank you. However now I'm just stuck on a loadingscreen where it says with red text that the card is fake and I should return to retailer? But I bought it fom a site recommended by others. Do I really need to get a new card?

I had this problem too, you just need to make sure you have the right Kernel for your R4

The R4s are a bit touch and go with DSi units, I had one work for two systems, but not work for three others, all causing the same issue. You can try another card, or if it’s easier, another device. I believe it’s got to do with the last few system updates that were pushed out for them before they were left for the 3DS.

But I have a 482 in one ds cartridge witch isn't a r4 card but how do I get the ds menu day back on that too
