Why are my tail lights always on?

I have a 2007 2.5l diesel grand voyager. Woke up at 0630 this morning with the alarn going of as the bettery was dying. Got alarm of and went back to bed until a reasonable time for a Sunday. I've charged the battery and car is running again without any alarms. However the tail lights stay on even with car of and key removed. Sometimes they will go of but not always. Is there a way I can get them to turn of so they don't kill the battery again and wake up the street?

Hi, Alistair. I think your brake lights are what are staying on. On the brake pedal there is a switch that controls the brake lights. This switch is likely what has failed. I couldn’t find a YouTube video for you showing how to replace it. I am including a link to another video, however. I’m not sure, but I believe the process for this Caravan should be very similar if not the same as your Voyager. Fast forward to 4:40 where he shows the switch. Hope this helps, good luck!

Yep had a look this afternoon. Its not failed yet but it's either the brake pedal not returning to it's resting position correctly or the switch is on its way out. For £17 I can replace it easy enough. Thank you :)
