Google Pixel Freezes Randomly

Hi,

I'm using a OG pixel 5" from 2016 currently facing a serious issue.

It seems that it constantly freeze out of nowhere. The screen freezes then turn black and unresponsive even pressing the power button it doesn't respond.

After a period of time, the lock screen would come back and seems to work for a few minute then freezes again.

Sometime it prevent me from restart or turning it off so I have to hold the power button to restart. Sometime it just stuck at the "G" logo boot screen.

I noticed that it happen after I make a phone call, use the Google assistant or go to Google voice setting.

Have anyone experience this issue?

please feel free to share.

I also live in Thailand where Google does not sell this product so I guess I have to fix it by myself.

I have tried my best to get it repaired by a small pixel community in Thailand. They replace the smaller board at the bottom where the microphone are located.

Well, It didn’t fix.

PS. I'm not a native English speaker. So, If there is anything you don't understand feel free to let me know.

Thanks,

Ben

Hi,

Try starting the phone in safe mode to check if the problem still occurs.

If it works OK when in safe mode, then a downloaded app is the cause of the problem. The trick is to find out which one is the culprit.

If it still fails when in safe mode, have you tried a factory restore (also known as a master reset or hard reset) to see if this resolves the problem, you didn’t say?

If you haven’t tried a factory restore, backup your phone using the phone’s backup feature before you perform the factory restore

Be aware that a factory restore will erase all your data and downloaded apps. It will restore the phone to its’ default factory condition (or last system update condition). That is why it is important to backup the phone first before you perform a factory restore.

Once you have backed up your phone, perform a factory restore using the phone’s factory restore feature.

When this has been completed, check the operation of the phone.

If it still has the same problems, you have a hardware problem.

If it now works OK, restore the phone with the backup you made earlier, using the phone’s restore feature and check if it still works OK.

If it does then the reset has resolved the problem.
