What is causing my car to die and not have power?

Ok so here's the deal. My 2003 Nissan Altima S 2.5 had the alternator go bad in it in town. My in laws put a fully charged battery in it and got it home. The next day we changed the alternator. When we went to test drive it it had no power, wouldnt shift out right and kept dying. we checked the ignition coils and 2 of them were bad and the spark plug chambers were full of oil. we cleaned the chambers and changed the valve cover. STILL wont run right, same issues. So we changed the ignition coils after cleaning the chambers again. STILL same problems. Then we changed the spark plugs and PCV valve but my father in law broke the hose that connects to it so he cut a piece of air hose to use. STILL WONT RUN RIGHT! HELP PLEASE.

Update (09/14/2018)

oh and the car ran out of gas when they got it home so my father in law put 2 cycle gas (half oil half gas) in it

“the spark plug chambers were full of oil” — Sounds like you have some serious engine problems.

“the car ran out of gas when they got it home so my father in law put 2 cycle gas (half oil half gas) in it”  — it would have been a lot better to go get some fresh, clean gas than to put oil/gas mix in the car.

I hate to say this, but I think you should find a different mechanic to work on your car.  I don't think your father in law knows what he is doing.

"My 2003 Nissan Altima S 2.5 had the alternator go bad in it in town. My in laws put a fully charged battery in it and got it home. The next day we changed the alternator. When we went to test drive it it had no power, wouldnt shift out right and kept dying." -- How do you know the alternator was bad?  Was it properly tested, or did someone simply guess that the alternator was bad?

"the spark plug chambers were full of oil. we cleaned the chambers and changed the valve cover." -- Cleaning the spark plug chambers is major surgery - you basically have to disassemble the engine!  Changing the valve cover isn't as major, but if you don't know what you are doing, you can mess things up.

"STILL wont run right, same issues. So we changed the ignition coils after cleaning the chambers again. STILL same problems."  -- How many times were the ignition coils changed?

I hope you are getting your parts cheap.  If you are paying full retail for these parts (alternator, ignition coil, etc), I fear you have spend a lot of money without getting any benefit from it.

almost $200 worth of parts. ignition coils changed once. valve cover easy enough to change just had to make sure the gasket was on correctly. and yes the alternator was properly tested.

$200 is not unreasonable for these parts IF they knew that these parts needed replacing.
