I got this laptop a little wet a few years ago, what should I do

Ideally you should have removed the battery and cleaned away any water and corrosion that was evident in it as soon as possible after it got wet.

After this amount of time of not doing anything about it, the water would have evaporated (dried) but the corrosion would still be there and may have caused more damage in the intervening time.

The battery certainly will have to be replaced as it would no doubt have become depleted beyond recovery.

You’ll have to open it up to check the extent of the damage.

If it doesn’t seem too bad you could try cleaning off any corrosion with Isopropyl Alcohol 90%+ (available at most pharmacies), this also includes removing any modules and cables and cleaning their contacts and connectors, and then with the battery removed from the laptop, connect the charger to it and see what happens when you try to turn it on.

As always with electronics be gentle when handling the PCBs and do not brush any components off the board(s) when cleaning.
