i accidentally sat on my laptop and the trackpad button sunk in on one side and now makes it hard to click. i usually always click on the left side of the button and now i have to really be careful to click and some times click numerous times. if i take it apart will i be able to even out my button or what must i do?

Thanks.

it’s so fascinating to me how this was posted 11 years ago. I was a child playing with my toys in my bedroom occasionally coming out of my room to play with my brother and mom. When other people come and see these comments, whether it be a year from now, 5 years from now, or 10 years from now, its so cool that this will most likely still be here. its crazy how time works

Without knowing what model MacBook you have, it'd be hard for me to say exactly how to fix it, since the trackpads are different for different models. However, I can suggest a software workaround: Use tap-to-click.

Start by going to your System Preferences, click "Keyboard and Mouse", then go to the "Trackpad" tab. Under "Trackpad Gestures", click the "Clicking" box.

This doesn't actually fix your depressed-trackpad hardware problem, but will make it so you can just tap the trackpad to click something instead of having to push it down.

I have this issue right now on my A1342 13" 2010 MacBook. You can open her up and theres screws on the trackpad that you can turn to tighten or loosen up the trackpad. Trial and error is involved. I can only click on the left side of my trackpad, but the right side is super sensitive. Light pressure registers a click. I came home and when I went to use it the issue was there. Weird, a few hours ago it didn't have this issue. maybe someone stood on my computer as I left it open and on the floor! Well, at least it wasn't the screen! Ahh, the joys of living with a family...
