MagSafe turns amber with battery unplugged, no power

Hello, I have a Mid 2014 MacBook Pro with a 2.6 i5 and 8gb of RAM. Randomly it will no longer power on, and through standard troubleshooting I unplugged the battery and connected the charger, and the light will turn from green to amber - indicates its charging, but without the battery plugged in, that doesn't make sense!

I have replaced the logic board, which worked perfectly fine for about 15 minutes before the same issue started happening again. I then replaced the DC-Jack, but nothing has changed. I am at a loss of what may be going on, any ideas are appreciated.

Worthy to note that when I have a drive plugged in through USB, the light indicating it is getting power turns on when I press the power button, but the fans don't spin/no chime/etc.

I have also tried different chargers to verify thats not the problem.

Thanks!

Since you tried replacing the logic board and shows the same issue problem is likely to be caused by something attached to the board, including keyboard, screen, etc..

Try disconnecting parts one by one and you'll eventually find the culprit..I'd bet on the keyboard :)

Thank you for the response! I forgot to add, but I did attempt to isolate the issue by removing each piece until I was left with nothing but the board and dc jack - I am thinking that one of the pieces may have fried it, so I have another board coming and will keep the keyboard unplugged this time - fingers crossed!

@puppyd0g21 Sorry to hear that..it doesn't happen very often that a component may fry the logic board and that exposes you to a very expensive fix. Considering the price of a logic board and that of a working 2nd hand top case I'd be very exitant to put a known good logic board into that old one, cause when you lock in the problem you run a risk of killing a third board before changing the faulty component. I'd seriously think about replacing the entire topcase with a known good one. Cross my fingers too..keep us posted..
