My screen doesnt work

So I'm currently using a 2016 touch bar 13-inch MacBook and one day the screen doesn't turn on when I open it. After I fiddled around with it a few hours, I discovered that the screen works perfectly when I open the screen slightly and gets dimmer and dimmer the more I open it until to the point where it gets pitch black. Apple said its going to take 1400+USD to change the screen(which i think is literally bullshit because the screen works perfectly). So what I think is that its either the logic board problem or there's a malfunction in the cable connecting the screen and the logic board. Please help me as I dont have much money because I'm a university student. Any comments on the problem would be helpful.
