USB Mobo Connector Disconnected

I replaced the USB Board in attempts to get my phone working, however when i got into the phone the usb board to mobo connector like the one shown in this image; https://d3nevzfk7ii3be.cloudfront.net/ig... was already disconnected, could this cause battery's to be destroyed by a short?
