When you replaced the whole drive deck, did you make sure to transfer the old motherboard over to the new deck? Also did you make sure you had the correct drive deck and laser?
I transfered the blu-ray from an older ps3 and i know it working its the same blu-ray. The new one works fine it just won't show me the icon on the menu. I didn'transfer anything else just the blu-ray and the 2 cables connecting it.
That would be your issue, you need to grab the drive motherboard from the one that is not working and swap it with the one you want in your console. It's just the drive motherboard. The issue you had with the drive you are trying to replace was just a laser issue. Swapping drives without transferring the motherboard to the new one makes a keyvault data mismatch. So grabbing your old drive motherboard and swapping it to with drive you want it with the one you want in your console will work. Another factor is, there are many different drive motherboards and lasers, so if your trying to swap a motherboard to a laser that does not work with that motherboard, it will not work. So you need to match the parts that are being swapped.
If the drive you are trying to have in your console matches the motherboard of your old drive, them you're good to go on swapping the hardware.
