Frigidaire won’t come back on after getting down to temperature

My fridge’s compressor will not kick on after the temperature gets down to temp. I turn the thermostat to the right, hear the click and the compressor kicks on. Temperature gets to where it’s supposed to be than the compressor will not kick on again until I turn the thermostat more to the right. Fan works, coils not dirty, fan in the freezer works, there is a light film of frost forming on the tubing in the freezer when the compressor is running.
trimeye just to clarify your compressor turns on to cool your fridge, then it reaches the set temperature. After the fridge warms up your compressor does not kick in until you move the temp selector to colder again?

Yes, compressor will only come on when I move the temp selector colder. When I reach the end I put it back to the warmest setting and turn to colder again.

But it will not come on by itself? Have you checked the temperatures with a thermometer? How warm does your fridge get? It does sound like a failed thermostat....

Yes, I used my smoke thermometer with remotes. The temps in the freezer got down to -5 and the fridge was down to 34. After that temp was reached they climbed back up again. Turn the thermostat colder back down to the same temps and then climb back up again.

thermometer thermostat that close the circuit at a high temperature and opens at the low temperature. I am still trying to find a schematic for your fridge that will show the limits and location of it.
