so the right hinge on my 3dsxl broke and I have the replacement part, but I've used the suggested screwdriver to take it apart but the screws never came out. Any idea on what to do?
They should come out fine, use a normal Philips screwdriver that fits well. Apply pressure and turn. If your screws are already stripped you might need to drill them out

Could you give us more detail? What screws are you taking about? Internal ones or the ones on the exterior of the chassis?
