Does anyone have a valid source for a 802.11ac replacement card?

I would like to replace the 802.11n card in my mid 2012 15" unibody with 802.11ac, but I can't seem to find one that is actually available and has any reviews saying it will work in my hardware. If anyone has a source for a viable card I would greatly appreciate the info.

I have been sent 2 options so far. The one on this site does not reflect that it does 802.11ac when you choose the option of 4.0 or 2.1. It only reflects the price difference.

The quickertek card seems to be a different interface. @mayer I will take my cover off tonight and see if it looks like the card in mine.

Thanks for both answers. If anyone can confirm that the BT4.0 card is the one that costs 69 dollars and is 802.11ac, ie.. it has worked in your machine, I will get it and advise.

@danj Thanks for the info. Hopefully the quickertek card will work for me. I will let everyone know if it will and how well it works if I install it.

My card is the one that requires the ribbon connection so the quicktek card will not work in my machine.

@crayzjake Phillip - Apple never offered an upgraded board for the older MacBook Pro's.

As it turns out BroadCom the maker of the part sold this part to many different laptop makers and for a while they did produce an AC & BT 4.0 version of the board that fits your system. We had gotten a dozen or so when they first showed up from QuickerTEK. Then they just stopped being made or available for some reason.

Apple used two different board designs the older one used a ribbon snap-on connector on the face of the board Older board version When Apple intro'ed the Retina models they went to a different design Newer board version. The newer board offers AC & BT 4.0 unlike the older board Apple used and sold as a spare.

@mayer - I've got five on back order from them. The version you need for the non-retina models appears not to be available any more ;-{

This is the one with the ribbon cable snaps onto the surface Vs the slot type used in the retina models and iMac's.

Let's try asking a good parts supplier. How about it @kaykay, got a solution for us?

In the past I've had really great success with (and referring to) PowerBook Medic for replacement parts. They stand by their stuff with a solid warranty.

Can anyone provide confirmation that this uCard 4 install is successful for the Macbook Pro Unibody 2010 A1278? I'm really keen to jump to AC/BT4 on my comp (already ug to SSD and 16gb RAM) b/c I think it will give me another few years of future proofing. However, I don't want to dive in for a $200 cost w/o knowing it's going to work. lol Thanks so much in advance!
