How to fix self touch

So I work at a cell phone repair company and for the most park I am pretty knowledgeable with phones. So I have a customer that brought there iPhone 6s Plus. She was in a abusive relationship and said her boyfriend threw her phone at the wall. So I replaced the screen about 3 times and every time she has touch issues. My question is, could the touch ic chip cause the phone to touch on it's own? I know the touch can go out but I didn't know if it can touch on it's own. Just really wanna get her phone fixed. Thanks!

Touch IC is on the screen itself for the iPhone 6S/6S Plus.

However, the touch IC has to be properly secured to the back plate. If it moves, it can cause issues and may be ghosting. If you look at the original Apple screen assemblies, that grey IC is secured left and right to the back plate using small pieces of black tape, and to the front cam assembly using a plastic/nylon bracket. Put those back.

Otherwise to narrow it down, ghost touching is first and foremost screen, second connector. Hardly anything else.

If you had no touch, or intermittent touch, you would start looking at the board for display power rails.

Yes, it can touch on it´s own (called ghosting). There 3 possibilities that could cause your problem.

1. broken Connector ( measure connections between connector and) logicboard)

2. Broken Touch IC/Broken solder points (replace the touch IC on the logicboard)

3. defective or low-quality Display (test the Display you installed on your customer's phone on a phone with working touch and test if the ghosting continues

But all in all this problem can be hard to fix because the phone was thrown. This hard acceleration can cause many defects on the logicboard, for example, defective solder pads or points or small cracks in the connection lines (which can cause temporary defects depending on the temperature of the logicboard)

2 / Two does not apply to the iPhone 6s as the touch IC controller was moved to the back of the screen assembly unlike the iPhone 6 (4.7 inch) and iPhone 6+ (5.5 inch) which used a touch IC that was on the logic board.

The iPhone 6s doesn't seem to be prone to the touch ic defect issue that the 6 and 6+ has.

To begin with, did the phones that have ghost touch issues have dented in phone housing metal frames (corners in particular) when they came in?

If yes, did you make sure to bend out the dents to make the screens fit in properly and not force them in?

If yes, did you test the touch screen thoroughly before install (Drag assistive touch home button around screen on all areas)?

If yes, then it's most likely number 3.

I recommend checking the touch digitizer and LCD display screen connector on the logic board (Check the cable side for screen assembly itself too) for any physical damage or dust on it (Dust blocking the golden pins connections on a connector) can cause touch issues)

Yes that's right. But you can also change this IC. If you have a bad supplier this chips can be soldered very badly on the flex cable the connects the Display to the logicboard. And this connection can be the problem. The Data the touch ic collects must be reported to the logicboard. If this Data is wrong caused by bad connection it starts ghosting.

So what I did to diagnose the issue is i took the board completely out of the housing and set it on a anti static mat. I hooked up a battery to it and a screen. I powered on the phone and it was good for about one minute but then it started touching on it's own. On Monday they will be coming back and I'll have a OEM 6s plus screen to test and see if it is the screen. But I just kind of wanted to know if the touch ic can cause touch issue because I didn't want to do the soldering job if it isn't even surely the touch ic. A follow up question is,

Does anyone know where I can get a 6s plus touch ic online? I only can find 6 plus.

The silver / chrome rectangle behind the screen assembly, is that for 3d touch or is that the touch IC?

I'm not 100% sure where the touch IC is on it actually on 6s screens.

It's on the motherboard

My iPhone 6s Is Ghosting , everytime I turn it on it just does crazy things. But I think it might be because my pixels are cracked. I can’t see the bottom of my screen because my pixels are messed up. I’m hoping its just because the screen is messed up. Email me at kingmrt@yahoo.com
