How long should a battery last?

Leslie Smith , My neighbors is 4 years old original battery and still working. Charge the battery 24 hrs. initially, then monthly or after 25 starts, is the manuals recommendation, see pg. 16 in the manual( 1st link) for further instruction. If your battery does not seem to hold a charge, the lawn mower carries a 3-year guaranteed-to-start and 2-year full warranty, return for replacement/repair/refund. You should not have issues when running either, perhaps try using a better grade fuel like premium 93 octane with up to 10% ethanol(less is better)and E15 product is((not)) recommended or approved for use in small engines(2nd link has more info.).
