LCD screen not working correctly after repair?

Hi,

So I had a Galaxy S4 with a broken lcd screen lying around my house and I felt like a bit of a repair project so I bought a new lcd screen which was the correct model etc. and replaced it via an online guide.

However, the screen is not working correctly. It will work fine but then will show some weird colours and go blank. The light at the top and home touch buttons still light up and work but the screen itself is blank. The screen however is not black as though it is just completely unresponsive. It is like a dark navy and shows up when you press any buttons, lock button home button etc.

I am wondering if there could be a loose connection, and if so, where abouts would it be for this issue?

I hope I have explained this well and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Have you actually gone back and checked the screen cable connection to the systemboard to ensure that it is connected properly?

Hi,

As it is the only cable connecting to the display assembly - Yes.

If you do have screen problems it will be either the display assembly itself, the cable (which is part of the display assembly anyway), the cable connector on the systemboard or a problem with the systemboard, e.g. backlighting power to the screen failing for instance .

Also the ifixit repair guide for your phone is quite good. Just click on the image of the phone, next to your question to get there.

Yes I have, and I have discovered the problem!

The cable has a small rip in it :'(

Thank you! For future reference, would this be the only cable which could cause lcd screen issues like mentioned above?

Thanks again :)

Yeah pretty much. The digitizer cable connects to the screen cable together.
