Will not engage in forward or reverse

@patriceone ,John Wesley Elston jr , Not giving me much to go on here, if automatic check your transmission fluid level, if full OK if not top up and try, still no go, transmission probably damaged internally and needs rebuilt/replaced or you have broken an axle shaft joint and transmission free spinning.

If manual transmission, clutch not engaging, clutch plate worn out/pressure plate faulty or both saturated with oil or again broken axle shaft joint(usually you will hear some sort of rattling noise).

Probably best to have a good local shop have a look, diagnose and estimate repair.

Now if it is standard transmission and you are saying you can not get it to shift into a forward or reverse gear as if you are locked out, then the clutch is not disengaging could be master/slave cylinder faulty, again have checked. Good luck.
