Water Damage - No Backlight

I'll be honest about what exactly happened.

I spilled water on the left side of the Macbook, over the speaker grill. Seemed okay afterwards but decided to turn it off anyway.

I used tissues to get it to what I thought was dry enough, and as it hadn't switched off after I spilled it, thought it was fine. Once switched off, it wouldn't charge at all. Eventually after using a hairdryer (Which I realise now isn't recommended), it started to charge again.

Anyway, I decided to switch it on, unto which the Apple logo appeared, then I heard a very strange sound; it wasn't overly loud and I can't quite explain it, but as soon as I heard it, the backlight just died. I initially thought the entire board had surged because I thought the laptop had switched off, but it was just the backlight.

Now, as I write this from that very computer, it seems fine. I've got it connected to an external monitor which works perfectly, everything on it functions normally except from the backlight.

Thought I'd just ask here - What sort of price would I be looking at for repairs? I'd prefer not to walk into an AASP and then they quote me something upwards of $200 for something that costs them $10 and 30 minutes of their time.

I've attached a few images as well if it helps you identify where it's gone wrong.

Backlight circuit needs to be diagnosed which takes hours not minutes to fix.

Take it to someone that repairs MacBook boards (not AASP)

David Voss besides using a hair dryer you do want to go ahead and clean your boar with some high grade isopropyl alcohol. this will clean it and displace any further water etc.

Not sure what noise you may have heard but possibly a sizzling/burning of the water and shortening a component. Check to see what logic board you have (820-3332-A?) so we can try and guide you to the backlight circuitry etc. Of course you will have to have a multimeter and some knowledge on how to check things. If not then contact someone that specializes in this type of repair. This will depend heavily on where you are located.

After cleaning the board like @oldturkey03 said, if it still does not work check fuse F9700 for continuity. If it shows continuity, that is good. Then check if it is shorted to ground.
