No Backlight MacBook A1181

Have an A1181 at the moment, no backlight. Tried a test inverter and inverter cable, but when trying to boot, the LCD cable sparked and burned away some of the insulation (see picture).

Haven't repaired many of these models (under 10, don't get many of these now) so I don't have a lot of experience with this particular one, and don't know exactly what could cause this.

I have got an LCD cable somewhere which I will try, but I was wondering if a bad inverter could cause an issue like this (don't want the same thing to happen with the other LCD cable) or if I should look out for something on the board? On top of that, the keyboard cable connector fell apart when disconnecting, so I have ordered one of them as well...

This one ended up dead after the LCD cable sparked, was acting a bit intermittent beforehand with booting, but I think the cable insulation was worn as you said. Customer had a second one of the same model with the same issue, which was resolved with the inverter and inverter cable.

I don't bother with these models anymore, hate taking them apart. Only get these for screen replacements now, since you don't have to take the whole MacBook apart :)

It looks like you had a bad LVDS cable (the insulation was likely weak and wearing away in that section) to begin with; I'd personally find it highly unlikely that the inverter would cause problems with the display cable.

With respect to the A1181 MacBooks, at this point, if the backlight doesn't work it's almost surely a problem with the CCFL backlight rather than the inverter.
