Why do I get the "lens error restart camera" message?

When I turn on my camera I get a message that says "lens error restart camera" and the lens won't open. How can I fix this?

Try restarting the camera. If this doesn't resolve the issue grit or other physical obstruction may be blocking the shutter. Use compressed air or a hair dryer on the cool setting to clear the obstruction. If this doesn't resolve the issue or if there is damage to the lens, replace the lens. First try to restart your camera. If the error continues something may be blocking the shutter and is keeping it from closing. Take canned air and attempt to blow the derbies free. If you do not have canned air you can use a blow dryer or just blow on the lens really hard. If this doesn't work you will most likely have to replace the lens.
