Why isn't the LCD digitizer connecting properly?

So, I replaced the LCD digitizer on my phone a while back. The problem is, when I go to put the screws in or place the case back on, it disconnects the screen. Obviously this is caused by something being pushed against another or somewhere being too tight, my problem is that I put it together correctly, but the new LCD digitizer is slightly different than the original. Which I believe is the cause, what can I do to fix this? I don't want to have to spend another 100 dollars to get another digitizer (Also let me know if I spent too much on that)
