Mac randomly restarts. "Panic Kernal" and Webroot security wont open.

Hi!

I have a macbook pro 15" retina display mid 2015...

When I program in android studio, the mac will reboot and turn on with an error log-Panic Kernal. One other thing is Webroot security software installs but when I try to open it, it will not open. My finder Dock moves a little(Like when you open something) not all the way as if it fully opens, then it closes. Since webroot will not open I am thinking there is a Virus on the computer that prevents any security software to open up and remove it. Oh! I almost forgot I am running MacOS Sierra(the way to get it without paying for developer access)-Don't know if that changes anything!

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,

Vincent

After losing a couple of hard drives to the El Capitan Beta, I'm staying away from them. Hopefully you backed up before going to the beta. Surely you have an external backup drive with a system on it. Boot up from it and see if your problems go away. If you did this beta without a back up plan, there's no hope for you, it's in beta for a reason, it's buggy! Webroot is a good anti-virus but will have to be updated for Sierra. Run it on your internal hard drive from your external backup. Do you have the expertise or even a valid reason for running a beta in the first place? Twenty years ago Apple only let professionals do it because they had the spare machines to do it and valid reason to see if the software they had written needed changes.

Yeah... I made the mistake of updating and I don't have a backup... Bringing it to geeksquad.

Do not take it to the Geek squad, all they will do is ship it off for two weeks to someone who knows how to work on it. Get a back up drive, Format it and put El Capitan on it. Set up a disposable user with administer powers. Then drag your user folder over to it. Bring the old user folder in as an added user via Preferences > User > add. You will probably not be able to migrate all of your apps. You can try dragging and dropping them You might be able to use Migration Assistant but I doubt it. Now put the back drive in your machine, Save the old drive and install Sierra on it when it comes out. The Geek squad is expensive and most are not Mac trained, You are bound to lose all your data. If you really don't have data to save, you can wipe the drive in Target Mode and do an internet install of El Capitan. Then sync with your iCloud.

Might be a problem with webroot security. Trash it and reinstall it. You don't really need an antivirus on a Mac as long as you have the latest OS X on your Mac. Thanks.

While this was true years ago, Apples success has made them a target. You do now need a good paid for anti-virus such as WebRoot or Symantec. 80% of the machines I get in have viruses now,
