heating element clip needed?
I removed the clip from the heating element so it would slid in the clip is located on the right side of the element. Is this clip necessary ?
Dryer runs still doesn't heat

The heating element expand and contract. The clip help hold them in place so they don't end up touching the covers walls and shorting out. You might get away with just one being missing but it also might short it out and necessitate replacing it. It's kind of depends on which one it is. One in the middle might be so important.
