Replaced touchscreen it doesn't respond to touch

My touchscreen was badly cracked, to the point of me not being able to see anything anymore save for a few strands of light. I didn't know how to turn it off without the screen, so I went ahead and replaced it anyways. The manufacturer, the jerk, didn't include the sticky tape, so I just did it without.

At first, it worked fine, but later the screen popped out. When I put it back in, the display worked perfectly, but it does not respond to touch.

My guess is that when the screen assembly popped back off it probably damaged the flex cable for the digitizer. These are very delicate cables that can be damaged easily. Often you can't even see the damage without a microscope when it does happen. This is assuming that you've already reopened the tablet and tried reseating the screen connections.

No, I just pushed it back in when it popped out. I'll try reopening and reseating it.

I have to agree with Andy on this because of the fact it was not properly sealed. Without sealing it, it leaves the inner components vulnerable and something could easily get damaged with a screen popping in and out of place.

You could take the screen off, use a tester, and see if the replacement screen got damaged. If not, the main hardware is going to needing testing. Check the physical hardware like wear and tear. Has dust or moisture damaged the cable connection? Is the cable not being held securely in place?

Find the cause to know the why - the digitizer can get damaged easily but if you know that isn't it then continue to problem solve.
