phone is on but screen is black

My dog knocked my phone out of my truck and when the phone hit the pavement it cracked the front screen. The phone is still on but the screen is black. I can hear when someone texts me but I cant make the screen come on. I have tried restarting it by hitting the power button, power +volume+ home buttons, and power+volume button and the only sign of life on the screen is the little light in the top left corner indicating I have texts, emails, etc. Am I going to have to replace the entire screen?

I'm thinking its an LCD issue after some research. Can I replace the LCD and just deal with the cracked glass or do I have to change both?

I have the same issue it was a very soft fall however the cellphone is on but completely black.

You may want to check the displays connection on the motherboard. You may have a loose connection due to the drop. Try reseating the displays connection to the motherboard. If the connection is properly seated then odds are your current display is damaged and will need replaced. The guides on this site can help you through this process.

I had the same issue, i even had a spare digitizer from old phone and that still hasnt worked. I did all the restart power up and down, hold home button etc, and my phone doesnt even go into recovery mode (no screen vision in any mode), what could be the possible cause if its not the digitizer or in a deep sleep? Could it be a mother board connection? Phone does power on and all the buttons light up etc, volume can be heard so i will try to clean the connections again inside.

Hello. I don't know if anyone could help me with this question but it would be appreciated if someone could. The glass of my daughters samsung S6 was cracked but still working. She put it in a shop and they said the digitiser was also cracked but held together by the glass and it was only upon them removing the glass that this support held it together and now there is no display whatsoever. Could this be the case that it was only functioning still because the cracked glass was holding it together or has the shop damaged it further. Thanks.

I would recommend replacing the whole display. The LCD in a display by itself usually is not much cheaper than the whole display. Sometimes it's hard to find only the LCD alone. Also are you sure the digitizer wasn't damaged? The digitizer sits between the glass and the LCD and controls touch function. If you are unsure if the digitizer is damaged then your best bet would be to replace it all. Also replacing the whole display is way easier then trying to separate the parts of a touch screen display. Especially if your glass is cracked badly.

@beccaaaa, You can do it yourself but unfortunately you will need to take the phone apart to be able to access the displays connection to the motherboard. If you wish to attempt it yourself this guide can assist you on replacing the display. 三星盖乐世S6的屏幕更换

can i change the screen myself? or do i need a professional? because when you buy the actual glass screen they sell the supplied to do it yourself. Is that possible?

so, im able to unlock my screen but my screen is still black. I know i can unlock my screen simply because i have an unlock sound and as i swipe upwards i hear the unlock sound and feel the vibration as well as my touch feedback and i can even switch the volume up and down (which im not able to do if the screen is locked)

what should i do?

i have the G920T model

They can technically be separated, but honestly if you are going to replace the display they almost always come with new glass. They are glued together so you shouldn't have a problem finding both together ready for installation.

It is better and easier to replace the whole screen replacement. The lcd screen, touch screen and front glass are already bonded together tightly by strong adhesive, so it is hard to separate any one of them just by DIY repair work. Though it is still possible to do that, you may damage the lcd screen or touch screen during the process.

I tossed my phone to the side and it hit the rock on my wall and now my screen is black but I can hear everything and every time I turn it on I see flash in the top right corner

I've had my Samsung S6 for about 2 years now i do not have one crack, I barely drop it and when i do its in a wallet case. Today my phone went blank after being on all day. What happened?

J3 screen got smashed so i've changed that along with dig equalizer but the little bit where you clip it on to the mother board has both broke off (little plastic bit top and bottom) so it dont clip in but i've mananged to make it sit but still no display showing up. Can hear it bleep when chargers connected but no lights show up!? Any ideas on how to fix this issue please?
