door won't open when button pressed

I have a GE microwave/oven wall unit and the door doesn't open until 5-10 seconds after cooking or after pressing open button. There is no outside handle. I don't want to replace due to cost and installation in wall.

Our door does not open at all - so how would you be able to check for anything on the inside?

Ours is newly purchased and has this issue from the beginning. I have to push the button 2 or 3 times to open it when no food inside. After cooking, it is easy to open.

Check the latch that is inside as it might be dirty. This would cause it to open more slowly than expected. You might have a broken spring where the latch holds the door making it not move enough to release the door.
