I am confused with the model-numbers

Hi you all,

I have a question about the model numbers.

As we all know the new mac pros will be available soon in our favorite power-seller-mac-stores.

But right know I found a lot of internet-shops where you can buy the mac pro with the model-number: MB535D/A.

Is this the previous model (which you can't order in the MAC-STORE anymore) or is this an even older version of the pro (does it even matter?)

Thanks for your help.

paul.

The number you gave appears to be a model made for the German or Austrian market. The most common way to identify a machine is by using the Model number and the EMC number. The Intel Mac Pro identification is located on the back of the unit on the ledge of the PCI slots. Mine is listed as Model No. A1186 EMC 2180 Next line shows the specs: MAC PRO/2.80X/2X1G/2600XT/320/SD/M/K. You also can look up any Mac past the G3, by the last three characters of its serial number. This is, in my opinion, the best way to identify your machine, here's the link:

It seems to me that everymac.com is awesome for everything except the Mac Pros. Specifically, the EMC numbers they list for the different revisions don't seem to match up with customers' machines. For example, it seems that their site says that Mayer should have an EMC of 2138, not 2180. This baffles me, but I don't have access to many of these machines to definitively support this. Has anybody else experienced this?
