Flash install Mac OSX

I have a Mac Mini in 2006 upgraded.

I did the firmware upgrade to EFI 2.1 to recognize 4GB of RAM.

My hard drive crashed and I had to buy a new and obviously do a clean install, but encountered a problem installing the Mac OS.

I tried to install the Mac OS 10.4, 10.5, 10.6 and 10.7 but did not succeed.

I always get the error message "The Mac OS X can not be installed on this computer"

At the moment I do not have a system installed, wish I could install at least Mac OS X 10.6.3.

Can someone help me?

You will need the original system installation disk. Gray disks for other machines will not work. Or use Retail Versions of the installations.

Pre-Installed MacOS: X 10.4.5 (8H1619) Maximum MacOS: X 10.6.8*

http://snow-leopard.en.softonic.com/mac

*This system can run the last version of Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard". However, it cannot boot in 64-bit mode nor does it support "OpenCL". It also cannot run versions of Mac OS X more recent than 10.6.8.

Not sure why you are encountering issues here. This system can only run 10.6 Snow Leopard or older. I would strongly recommend you stay with 10.5 Leopard as there are some application issues with a Solo chipped system running Snow Leopard.

OK, lets see what is messed up here. First lets delete the partition and reformat the drive so its clean. You want a single partition GUID & OS Extended (Journaled). Use Disk utilities on the installer CD/DVD so it's the correct version of booting OS (it needs to be Leopard or Snow Leopard). Then try again.

I've tried to format it the way you described.

I believe that you have not understood that my Mac Mini is upgraded.

I'm probably with EFI problems.

The EFI 2.1 is a customization to support 4GB of RAM.

The system is not recognizing that the identification of the Mac Mini and perhaps why I am unable to install Mac OS X.

The problem seems to be that, but do not know the solution.

Sadly Apple no longer sells Leopard or Snow Leopard install disks (grey disks) nor retail versions of either. You'll need to search eBay to see if someone will sell you theirs. Make sure you get the retail version which is black and has either a Leopard or Snow Leopard image on it.

You can also find them on here from time to time.

IN ADDITION....

I had a similar issue with my MBP A1260. After a long time of dredging through forums and trying various things... I finally got it to work.

Without a disc in the drive, I started the machine holding the "option" key.... I first got to a screen with a lock and an input bar w/ an arrow to the right. - Firmware password.

So... I shut down... re-inserted the disc that would start up but gave me the error. Once I got the error... I hit ok, and selected "Firmware Password Utility" from the "Utilities" menu.

After checking 'require...' and setting a new firmware password, I repeated the boot up with no disc, holding "option".

I then inserted my leopard disc... and viola there it was as an option. I selected it and began the startup. ...and allowed me to install, where all other attempts and OS had failed to start or complete.
