Replacing the motherboard and need some instructions.

I don't know what I'm doing but I took apart my Canon 5d after it's been acting wonky and it looks like one of the little black things on the motherboard is corroded. I found a motherboard for $190 but no instructions anywhere on how to replace it. I was also told that Canon may have to "set up" the motherboard after I change it out but I don't know what that means. Can anyone enlighten me?

The way it acts wonky is after I've used it for a while, the select button won't work or only works when I move it in certain directions and the auto exposure lock will come on randomly and won't turn off on its own or when I take the battery out. And I've already done a hard reset.

@mikeryan79636 before spending that much money (I am cheap) how about you rtell us more about this "one of the little black things on the motherboard is corroded" or even better, post some pictures of your motherboard and point those parts out. That way we can see what you see and who knows? Maybe you can actually fix your board and save some money.

Also, verify that your camera is indeed a Canon EOS 5D Mark II

If it is a new motherboard, then yes it must be initialized first by the correct Canon software (Note Canon no longer provides service for this model) If it is a used working MB, then it will work and operate the camera, but the adjustments were for a different unit, so color and white balance might be off as well as the CMOS data will be different, Autofocus can be effected.. This can cause color issues, digital noise in the image. So short answer is if it is a new board, it will not work unless initialized by Canon software, if used it will work but may not yield good results.
