Where is the internal permanent battery?

My clam is asking me to reset date and time every time it is switched off - I gather replacing the internal battery will fix this.

The iBooks didn't have internal clock batteries. They use the power from the battery, and a capacitor on the motherboard to maintain the clock time.

Thank you for your answer. It also answers my question. I was given the blueberry clam and had the University put in the OS 9.1 and set it to netscape for the internet. It works wonderful but of course is limited to what it can do. It has a 3G hard drive. It plays Tetrus and I like it. A nice toy for the $11.00 hard drive load. I may or may not get a battery for it. Electric power is just fine for now. Thanks again, I thought it had an internal battery I couldn't find.

You need to replace your main battery. The iBook has no backup battery to retain time and other settings when the main battery is removed. A small capacitor holds enough energy to maintain PRAM contents for 20 seconds, so switch batteries quickly.

@ Alia, it is probably a bad battery, even if it's new.
