Hi everyone,
I have a 2011 macbook pro, and recently bought a new charger because the old one was past its sell-by date. The charger is fine, it's the laptop that's not working well. The problem is that the magnetic port does not charge well when i connect it, and it needs a lot of fiddling and messing around until it charges and even then it turns off sometimes. Do you guys have a new charging port for this computer? Thanks !

Well, yeah, maybe. But the one you need depends on the specific model of your computer, which you haven't told us.
iFixit doesn't currently stock the MagSafe board for 2011 17" MBPs - only 2009 ones. PowerbookMedic lists a variety of MagSafe boards, and specifies a different Apple part number for 2010 17" MagSafe boards (922-9288), but does not list either a part number or an item for the 2011 17" laptops. It's possible that a 2010 MagSafe board will fit, but it's hard to know without more information.
If you'll look at the About This Mac screen and identify the actual model of MacBook Pro we're talking about, we'll be able to offer more help.

Hi what about for the MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012)
Seek, and ye shall find:

All the MacBooks, MacBook Airs, and (I believe) MacBook Pros with MagSafe charger connectors have the MagSafe charger port on a MagSafe/DC-In board separate from the main logic board. All of those MS/DC-In boards can be replaced, although you often have to tear the whole machine down in order to get the failed board out.
I haven't looked through the teardowns for the 2017/2017 TouchBar MacBook Pro Retinas yet. The new logic boards have a very different layout from the earlier MBPRs, since you charge the battery though one of the two-to-four Thunderbolt 3 connectors, rather than through a dedicated power connector. My guess is that all the power/TB connectors are part of the logic board, just as the storage modules now are.
Same issue for MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2010). Is there a link for this model? Thanks in advance.
