My iphone 4 doesn't recognize that a charger is plugged in but it still charges very slow about 48 hours to get to 100% and loses charge fast. Is it the battery or the docking port. And yes I've tried multiple chargers it doesn't recognize any and still trickle charges anyway.

a few possiblities. You have a slit waterdamage and something is shorting the circuirt and draining the battery.
Your battery is meeting the end of its live
your doc connector is damaged (happens over time) or filled with gunk that needs to be removed
