If this is for the OEM TV Tuner, I would suggest pulling it out and buying some PCI slot blanks to fill the holes on the case in. The tuner in this system is analog only, so it is useless for TV. With that being said, the RCA and S-Video will continue to work.

If you plan on using this card for TV, let me crush your dreams and say that isn't happening due to the DTV switch. However, if you can get it working it can be used for RCA or S-Video. If this is the intention, I'd see what you can do if it makes economic sense.

You have 2 options:

  • Buy a driver CD or find a copy of the driver online that is clean and IS NOT a driver upgrade (Unlike most companies, Happague still insists on charging for original driver files if you lost the CD and requires it to install the upgrade packages. I don't think being rebranded by HP is making this any easier).
  • If you can, find out which card the HP tuner is actually based off of since they just change the model number, likely to obscure one's ability to use vendor drivers. Back in these days, HP was known to pull shenanigans like this. They even did it with the AVerMedia cards.

It's really up to you. If you want to use it for TV, junk the card and buy a new one. However, if the intention is to use it as a capture card then it's worth trying if you can't afford a standalone card or want to try your luck before going external.
