iPhone 5 stuck in not restoring DFU mode!

Hi,

I have an Iphone 5 (A1429) that randomly went into dfu mode... I wasn't able to get out of DFU nor do a restore (itunes would hang on "waiting for device").

After charging the battery for a night (it gots charge now, checked it with voltmeter) i got it to a stage where it is dispaying the itunes logo with usb cable (recovery mode) but i can't get out of that either (tried holding home and power for 10 sec, restarts and goes back into the same recovery mode)

if i connect it to Itunes now, i get it to actually starting to restore but 10 seconds after the status bar displays on both my laptop and iphone, itunes stops with error 14. I already tried re-installing itunes, deleting old IPSW and tried other wifi/ computer. I'm desperate so pleas help, i'm willing to open up my IPhone and i'm in possession of a mac, windows and ubuntu PC.

here is the log i get (only error section):

[15:25:29.0492] Failure Description:

[15:25:29.0492] Depth:0 Error:AMRestorePerformRestoreModeRestoreWithError failed with error: 14

[15:25:29.0492] Depth:1 Error:The operation couldn’t be completed. (AMRestoreErrorDomain error 14 - Failed to handle data request message)

[15:25:29.0492] Depth:2 Error:The operation couldn’t be completed. (AMRestoreErrorDomain error 14 - Failed to handle image request)

I know a free and safe tool that can help you kick out of iPhone duf mode with one click without iTunes. No need of home/lock button, only with one click, you can enter and exit iPhone mode.

Lucky you. I did it hundred times on a PC and hundred fifty times on a Mac and still the same result. The phone hangs itself before it should start to suck the new firmware.

I have tried it, choosing "exit recovery" rebooted my device but it went back into itunes logo recovery mode... Using the option to go into recovery doesn't seem to change the state of my device, it stays in itunes logo recovery mode... I'll try to use it again with the link you provided in a few hours and I'll update or it worked now...

Thanks for the reply :)

Can you try kicking the device out of Recovery Mode by doing the following when your phone is on and showing the iTunes logo and USB cable.

1. Hold the power and home button at the same time until the screen goes black.

2. When the screen goes black, release BOTH buttons and then immediately press and hold the POWER button until you see the apple logo and then let go of the power button.

This is usually the way you get an iPhone/iPod/iPad out of Recovery Mode without restoring.

What is the history of this device?

Has it ever seen water? Suffered a big drop? Have you ever opened it, removed the screen, removed the battery etc? Used non-Apple chargers?

What were you doing just before this problem started?

These details will help point us in the right direction so that we can give you an answer.

I will come back and edit/update this answer when you give me the history.

Hi

I opened the phone for the first time when this problem started (to dis and reconnect battery) i noticed al of the indicators were still white so the phone hasn't seen any water... Al parts are original as the phone hasn't been opened before i disassemble it... I noticed the data cable wasn't original but i did some research and the cable (ifrogz) is a good replica and doesn't damage the phone. I did use a original data cable to charge it over night and try to do the restore wich keeps failing with error 14. I don't think the phone has been dropped as it is in perfect state (no cracked screen, no dents in body,...)

Thanks for the reply and i hope you can help me out!

Okay, I see that you are not going to give me the history, so I will take my best guess regardless. I will assume the history is "not remarkable, problem just started one day"

Your problem is a failure of the U2 chip. U2 controls the charging logic and is well known as a design flaw in the iPhone 5. This chip is very susceptible to damage from voltage fluctuations in non-Apple chargers, especially car chargers. The symptoms of U2 failure can be: rapid battery drain, auto power on at battery connect, no usb detect, fake charging, and inability to charge a battery that is below 1% at all. To me, it seems reasonable that an 'out of the blue' problem like this in the absence of any other insult really points to U2 failure just because it is so common.

I would expect that some U2 failures would cause an inability to restore due to problems with U2's management of the sub interface.

完成的

Ha! Thanks for your history--you must have been typing it as I wrote my answer. I'm still going with damaged U2 as most likely here.

完成的

sucks to be me then :p HA. sorry for the late answer. (time difference, i live in Belgium - Europe) from what I've read a damaged u2 chip has problems like "not booting up when putting charge in -- mine goes to recovery mode when i put my charger in"

so mine doesn't really give me direct symptomes of a damaged u2 chip... I'll keep it in mind so when I give up i still can sell every part except for the moderboard

完成的

I have a U2 failure board here that boots to recovery mode just like yours...but I could be wrong.

1. Delete the previously down*loaded software update file which you will find in this loca*tion depend*ing on your system:

Mac: /users//Library/iTunes/iPhone Soft*ware Updates

Windows XP: System Drive:/Doc*u*ments and Settings/Application Data/Apple Computer/iTunes/iPhone Soft*ware Updates

Windows 7: System Drive:/Users/Your Username/App Data/Apple Computer/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates

If you faced the error while upgrading your iPad or iPod, the last location path will change:

../iTunes/iPod Software Updates or ../iTunes/iPad Software Updates

2. Now, restart iTunes & begin the update again. This time iTunes will download a fresh copy of software update file.

1. Re-download the IPSW file.

2. Now, restore to this newly downloaded IPSW file via iTunes.

Best of luck.

You can enter DFU mode to fix iPhone stuck in recovery mode or restore mode:

# Plug your iPhone into your computer with a USB cable.

# Turn off the iPhone.

# Hold the Power button for 3 seconds.

# Hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds.

# Release the Power button but keep holding the Home button.

# After about 15 seconds you will be alerted by iTunes saying that it has detected a device in Recovery Mode.

I think this is probably a software problem, as described in the how to fix an iPhone stuck in recovery mode article. Maybe you should check out whether your firmware file is compatible with your iPhone version. While error 14 occurs, there are some solutions you can try to fix it, such as use a new USB cable, restart your PC, restore the beta firmware, etc. If this is useless for you, you could try the FORecovery iOS System recovery tool to help you. I hope this helps. Good luck.
