SSD-only iMac - future SSD additions

If I order the SSD-only iMac 27" with 256gb or 512gb, will the SSD drive be in place of the standard HDD or it will be a blade SSD connected to the PCIe port and the place for HDD will be empty? In future, I would like to add mode SSD when I run out of 256gb or 512gb or feel the need, so what kind of SSD will i need to purchase to make it work? Will it need to be SATA type or PCIe type?

Yes, your system will have the SSD connected to the SSD PCIe connector and the SATA connector will be vacant.

As you didn't get the HD the mounting hardware and cables will not be present. So you will need to order them when you do decide to add in an HD or second SSD via the SATA port.
