Using 2009 screen to replace early 2011?

Hello there,

Im fixing a macbook pro 13 early 2011.

The screen and shell is not usable and al needs replacing, my question is, can i use the whole housing from a 2009 macbook pro and put it onto a early 2011? its just iv seen a full screen on ebay and it says 2009 and upwards, iv googled searched and cant find an answer, iv also asked the seller but to get a reply of "im not a mac expert, i cant help you on that one, sorry"

is his auction title correct or is he trying to have people on?

Hope someone can help.

SOLVED:

Ebayer had bad description, its a 2011 screen, his listing stated 2009 upwards, took awhile to understand what he ment but i got there in the end thanks guys!

The displays are compatible, but the problem is that 2011+ they added the antennas to the side. I can't tell as I haven't fully taken one apart, but I know in the 2009 models it basically has the LCD, LVDS iSight, and cable for iSight (underneath the glass) and you can take out the wifi card and antenna from the assembly. Perhaps same thing with the 2011, you may just need to slide the clutch cover and unscrew it

More than likely you may need to replace the cables for the isight as they're probably different. If this is the case, I highly discourage you to do this. Removing the glass without breaking is a very difficult process... took me a few attempts to master it

Probably wont work. The newer machine was setup for a newer display. The GPUs are different, and I imagine (though not certain) the connectors/backlights are different.

If you can access the back of the '011 there's a manufactuer's sticker and number on it. A google shopping search will turn up compatible units... that may provide you with information about their use in '09 models.

Thank you very much for a response, i wont bother with a 2009 screen, sounds too much work and easier to fit same model screen.
