Thanks for posting this. I was looking for a solution in a tight budget because I couldn’t even turn mine on because the button has gotten so bad. Seems like Garmin should should just stick erasers under their power buttons. I’m be had multiple E-series GPSrs and now the Oregon, and the power buttons always cave in.

Nice job! I couldn't find a round eraser large enough, so I cut off a wooden dowel minimally shorter than flush when just contacting on/off switch. Covered with gorilla black duct tape. Works like a charm. Bravo!

hat perfekt funktioniert. Vielen Dank für die Anleitung. War kurz davor das Gerät zu entsorgen, aber der neue Schalter funktioniert sogar jetzt besser als das Original. Hab mir viel Zeit gelassen beim einpassen, aber das hat sich rentiert und es ist ja auch eigentlich ganz einfach, weil man den Gummi ja einfach abrubbeln kann. Dadurch passt er perfekt und den Klebstreifen braucht man dann nur noch zum fixieren.
I just finished this, and one clue to help is to make sure the eraser is shorter than the hole. Otherwise, the button will just stay pushed when you tape it. Shorter than the hole works great. Also, I used Gorilla black duct tape, and it seems to work great. Time will tell if it turns sticky, but it’s not supposed to.
