How to solve unresponsive ui and boot loop with pin enabled.

Samsung Galaxy s10

My UI isn't responding, meaning I need to delete a partition or get into app list and find 3rd party problem.

However as soon as I input my security pin it goes I to a boot loop.

Factory reset is out of the question.

Hi @paulgranger

Try starting in safe mode and see if it booted OK or if it still boot looped.

Hi @paulgranger!

Tough situation - your S10 boots fine until you enter your PIN, then immediately loops. This is actually a known S10 issue after recent updates. Since factory reset isn't an option, here's what to try:

1. Boot into Safe Mode (Most Important!)

This disables third-party apps and might let you access the system:

  • Power off completely
  • Power + Volume Down - hold both until Samsung logo appears
  • Release Power but keep holding Volume Down
  • Wait until boot completes - you should see "Safe Mode" in bottom left

If it works in Safe Mode, uninstall recently installed apps or disable apps one by one until you find the culprit.

2. Wipe Cache Partition

This won't delete your data, just clears temporary system files:

  • Power + Volume Up + Bixby (hold all three while off)
  • Release when Android logo appears
  • Select "Wipe cache partition" (volume buttons to navigate, power to select)
  • Reboot

Multiple S10 users report this temporarily fixes the loop and gives you access to disable problematic apps.

3. Flash Stock Firmware (NO DATA LOSS)

If Safe Mode fails, reflash the system while keeping your data:

  • Boot into Download Mode (Power + Volume Down while connecting USB)
  • Use Samsung Odin with stock firmware
  • Critical: Use HOME_CSC file instead of CSC - this preserves all data
  • Flash and reboot

Emergency Data Access Trick:

Some users report getting 20-30 seconds of access after the phone fully dies and reboots. If you get that window:

  • Immediately enable USB debugging
  • Or quickly copy critical files to cloud storage

The S10 bootloop-after-unlock is a known bug from recent updates. Safe Mode is your best bet - try that first!

Good luck!

Best Wishes
