It sounds like it could be a backlight issue; you may have blown a fuse on the motherboard. Take a flashlight and hold it up against the screen at an angle in a dark room and see if you can make out any kind of image. If you can, the backlight circuit has failed and would need board-level repairs; either that or replace the motherboard.

Check the display and let us know if there's a picture or not and we'll see if we can come up with more suggestions based on what you find.
