After replacing screen, lock screen is extremely dim

After replacing my screen with the geniune part from iFixit on my Pixel 8 running Android 16 my lock screen brightness looks like it's set at it's lowest setting and extra dim. The brightness works fine while the device is unlocked, but the lock screen remains extra dim and dark. I have enabled screen wake on notifications, but even when notifications arrive, the lock screen stays extra dim while showing the notification.

I can't seem to find any setting that can control the lock screen brightness, so was wondering if anyone had any similar problems after replacing the screen? I also can't find any calibration option in settings that could help fix this issue.

After looking through some of the other issues I noticed that someone suggested the black sticker on the back of the screen also had to be removed:

Proximity sensor not working after replacing screen

It's not clear from the instructions that that black padding should have been removed.

Turns out I forgot to remove the black sticker on the replacement screen which was covering the proximity sensor. The lock screen now correctly adjusts brightness with ambient lighting. DOH!
