LG Refrigerator door alarm: can it be disabled?

Argh.

I've recently purchased French-door fridge LF29H8330S (ASTCNA1).

LG docs state their refrigerators without an alarm button cannot have the door alarm disabled. This model has no such button. Also, the LG ThinQ app does not currently have an option to disable the alarm or change its duration (60 seconds).

However, this industry is full of secrets. Is there a special button dance or other magic method to disable the door alarm?

My wife appreciates being able to change the alarm tone, but not being able to turn it off is an annoyance during grocery-getting days.

Hi @zotz

As a workaround, if it is available on your model, you could try setting the refrigerator in Sabbath mode to turn off the alarm when required.

  • To turn Sabbath mode on, touch the display to activate it, then press and hold the Freezer and Wi-Fi buttons for 3 seconds until sb appears in the display.
  • To turn Sabbath mode off manually, press and hold the Freezer and Wi-Fi buttons for 3 seconds.

Be aware that some other functions may not work either when it is in this mode e.g. dispenser and InstaView (if applicable),

Sabbath mode would be useful for extended periods, but those are rare. Our typical case is simply having the doors open for longer than a minute for putting away the grocery haul. This wasn't an issue with our former Samsung fridge. With various settings possible via software, including the alarm tone, one would think alarm status and duration would be possible in a later software update. We can only hope.
