Hi @rochelle4482

How did you prove that the remote control was working OK?

You can test if it is working by using a digital camera or the camera app in a mobile phone.

Turn on the camera (or open the camera app in the phone) and then point the TV remote control towards the camera so that you can see the end of the remote that is normally facing the TV, in the LCD screen of the camera or phone.

If you press any button on the remote you should see a light flickering at the end of the remote when looking at it on the screen.

If you don't see it when pressing the Power button on the remote control but you do when you press other buttons that are used less often, then the power button is faulty, most likely worn out button contacts as this is the most used button (along with the Volume buttons) in the remote.

If the remote control tests OK then it could be a faulty IR sensor module (p/n BN96-39955A) which would be located behind the IR window which usually is at the bottom of the screen in the bezel. Make sure that nothing is obstructing the signal being sent by the remote to the TV e.g. low objects placed in front of the TV

Hi Rochelle,

Am I correct in assuming you've verified your remote is working, leaving the TV itself as the source of the problem?

Turn on your phone's camera and point the remote at it. Press any button on the remote and you should see a violet light in the camera (it's not visible to the naked eye). A flashing light says the remote is working; if you don't see a light then chances are the problem is with the remote, not the TV - even if you've put new batteries in it. This works on most but not all remotes.
