Hi @thaddeuskarow

Has the WiFi in the laptop worked OK before, with your particular home WiFi network?

If it has, try using the WiFi on the laptop as close as possible to your home WiFi network router i.e. <15cm and check if it now detects, connects and maintains a stable connection.

If it now works OK it may be a loose or faulty antenna connection to the WLAN (WiFi) network card in the laptop.

Here's the ifixit Toshiba Satellite CL15t-B1204X Network Card Replacement guide that will help you to check if it is OK or not.

Do you know the passwords for the other WiFi networks that the laptop's WiFi detects but won't connect to?

Have you changed your home network WiFi router or the frequency band the home network router is now operating on at all?

The laptop works on the 2.4GHz signalling band only and not on the 5GHz band as well.

I realized that the reason my Toshiba Satellite wasn't even picking up my home Wi-Fi was because my Wi-Fi only puts out 5G broadband. I'll be calling Spectrum ASAP.

What is the make and model number of the Spectrum router?

Nowadays usually most have both 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi capability and the user can turn either of them on or off.

If you know the router's login password you should be able to change it in the router settings.

Usually you access the router from a webpage on a computer connected to the router by searching for the I.P address of the router which is usually 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1

  • Do the Network Reset on your windows Laptop
  • Check Device Manager for missing or outdated diver if the driver is outdated update to its latest version.

I tested each solution. None of them fixed the problem, however, your input is leading me in the right direction. And I respectfully appreciate the advice. I figured out that I needed to clear the hard drive and start from a clean slate. I've learned this is a Toshiba problem with a lot of their Windows10 devices. I'm hoping to be able to upgrade my Satellite to Windows11. Have to see if the hardware is compatible.
