ice maker isn't making ice

The ice maker isn't making ice. Water is available (the front water dispenser works). Cooling/freezing also works.

Here are the parts for reference.

The ice mold (part#20) was half full with a block of ice. I removed that ice.

After re-assembly i turned the fridge back on and that ice mold filled with water and froze it. But so far, it wasn't thrown out into the tray. If it doesn't, i suspect the motor or the cycling thermostat is broken.

how exactly does this actually know when to activate the motor? I mean how does it know the ice mold is full and frozen? How long does it usually take to create one batch of ice?

I put a piece of paper over the old ice so I can see if it made and threw out new ice.

What should I look at or test?

Did it actually make new ice? I'm not sure from your question whether it did or not

If it didn't make sure the freezer is below 10°F degrees because the icemaker will not cycle if the temperature in the freezer is higher than 10°F degrees.

If it did, you can manually test if the icemaker is working OK or not.

Remove the front white plastic cover off the icemaker and then place a jumper wire between holes T and H as shown in the ice maker service sheet¹ and wait 15 seconds, then remove the jumper wire. The icemaker should start cycling and moving the rake which pushes the ice out.

If it doesn't cycle, replace the icemaker because it's faulty.

N = Neutral line

L = line voltage

V = water valve

T = thermostat

H = heater.

Thanks for the response. The ice maker actually started making ice again after i had cleaned out the block of ice. i think it just took a long time to realize that cleaning out fixed it.

Problem solved and I should have been more patient before posting :-)
