Debugging nonfunctioning replacement display

My (512gb / anti-glare LCD) Steam Deck's screen cracked. I ordered a replacement (alongside a replacement shell and a tac switch mod), and went through the whole ordeal of doing a full replacement.

Everything is put back together and more or less works, except the new display doesn't turn on. I've double-checked the ribbon cable from the display to the motherboard is secure (at least, the quick disconnect on the display below the mobo), but I'm curious how I should proceed next.

I imagine I'll have to disassemble the whole thing again, get new adhesive to replace it, etc, but I'm curious if there are good ways to test things prior to re-adhering the display after removing it. Any thoughts for how I can debug to avoid full disassembly and reassembly and only then finding it's still not working.

Worth noting I'm using the original ribbon cable, rather than the replacement cable included with the iFixit kit — I imagine that doesn't matter, but would be curious if people have data to the contrary.

To answer my own question for future visitors: I was able to connect my old broken display without removing the new display (I unscrewed the motherboard and removed the heatsink/fan and any cables going into the motherboard, took a second display ribbon cable and plugged it right into the back of the motherboard, reassembled everything connected to the motherboard, and then turned on the SD while the back plate was still off) and was able to narrow the issue down to the display cable I was using.
